PCKL invites global RfQs for Gulbarga Thermal Power Projects

 

The month of May 2012 witnessed a total of 3,291 project tenders worth Rs. 27,792 crore being floated. Among the floated tenders, 2,486 tenders worth Rs. 15,316 crore were by State Government, 783 tenders worth Rs. 12,431 crore by Central Government and balance 22 tenders were by private sector companies.

 

The most notable tender during the month was issued by Power Company of Karnataka (PCKL). On 21 May 2012, PCKL invited global RfQs for the development of 2x660 MW Gulbarga coal based thermal power project on BOO basis for supply of power on long term basis under Case-2 competitive bidding guidelines notified by Ministry of Power, Government of India.

 

Another notable tender during the month was issued by the Chennai Port Trust. On 17 May 2012, the Trust invited RfQs for development of Rajiv Gandhi Dry Port and Multi Modal Logistics Hub of Chennai Port at Mappedu, Sriperumbudur on DBFOT basis for a concession period of 30 years.

 

Among the sectors, Roadways sector continued to be at the top with 1,108 tenders worth Rs. 14,674 crore. The most important tender in this sector was issued by the NHAI for four/six laning of Bhavnagar-Veraval section from km 3.200 to km 263.00 of NH-8E in Gujarat on DBFOT basis. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs. 3,590 crore. In all, the NHAI issued 35 tenders worth Rs. 8,658 crore during the month.

 

Some of the major tenders by the NHAI are

 

 
  • Four laning of Gadu-Dwarka section of NH-8E, Gujarat (Rs. 1,796 crore)
  • Four laning of Hubli-Hospet section of NH-63, Karnataka (Rs. 1,333 crore)
  • Four laning of Yadgiri-Warangal section of NH-202, Andhra Pradesh (Rs. 957 crore)

 

In the Hydel Power sector, the most notable tender was issued by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVNL). On 16 May 2012, SJVNL invited global bids for execution of major civil works Package-I & Package-II of Devsari Hydro Electric Project (252 MW) in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Another notable tender in the same sector was issued by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO). On 24 May 2012, NEEPCO invited bids for preparation of detailed project report and related activities for Mawphu Hydro Electric Project (85 MW) Stage-II in Meghalaya.

 

The Water Supply sector saw the 204 tenders being floated worth Rs. 1,651 crore during the month. The most notable tender in this sector was issued by the Public Health Engineering Department, Rajasthan. On 05 May 2012, the Department invited bids for the work of transmission main pipeline from Mallah to Kumher, Deeg, Kaman, Pahari & Nagar and RWSS for 97 villages from Mallah head works under Chambal Dholpur Bharatpur Project, Part-II on single point responsibility turnkey basis in Rajasthan. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs. 250 crore. Another notable tender in the same sector was issued by Delhi Jal Board for pilot project for improving the efficiency of water distribution network under Malviya Nagar UGR Command Area. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs. 171 crore.

 

The Power Distribution sector saw 147 tenders being floated worth Rs. 2,002 crore during the month. Among these floated tenders, most significant tender was issued by Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (PVVNL). On 11 May 2012, PVVNL invited bids for the work of rural feeder segregation on turnkey basis in 29 separate packages in Uttar Pradesh. The aggregate cost of this packages is estimated at Rs. 1,514 crore.

 

Among the states, Madhya Pradesh accounted for a total of 451 tenders worth Rs. 1,662 crore followed by Orissa (412 tenders worth Rs. 846 crore), Chhattisgarh (265 tenders worth Rs. 812 crore) and Maharashtra (258 tenders worth Rs. 1,138 crore).

 

Some of the major tenders floated in the private sector were:

 
  • Bengal Energy International Inc. invited pre-qualification for services and materials for exploration block CY-OSN- 2009/1 in offshore Gulf of Mannar, Cauvery basin.
  • South Asian University invited bids for appointment of project management consultant (PMC) for the construction of buildings and infrastructure for its permanent campus at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi.
  • Cairn Energy India Pty invited global bids for provision of land drilling unit for RJ-ON-90/1 onshore block.
  • Kakinanda Seaports invited bids for construction of private railway siding of P. Way, S&T, OHE and allied works in connection with proposed two spur lines for fifth berth in the existing in plant yard of KSPL and holding line on east side of Coromandel common line on South Central Railway at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Cairn Energy India Pty invited bids for engineering, procurement and construction of living quarters at Bhogat Terminal in Jamnagar, Gujarat for Mangala Development Pipeline Project.

 

Some of the major EoI floated during May 2012;

 
  • Department of Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh for development of international airport at Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh on DBFOT basis under PPP.
  • SAIL for setting up of steel processing unit at Gonda in Uttar Pradesh on conversion basis.
  • Vadodara Municipal Corporation for the project management consultancy for the construction of various flyover bridges, ROBs, river bridges and culverts in Vadodara City.
  • Department of Information & Cultural Affairs, West Bengal for development of two integrated film cities - one in Uttarpara-Kotrung Municipality near Kolkata and another in Dabgram Mouza in Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal.
  • Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar & Ahmedabad (MEGA) Company for supply, construction and commissioning of wind farm with capacity of 20 MW at suitable site/s in the state of Gujarat.

  • Public Works Department, Andhra Pradesh has awarded contract to Balaji Constructions, Medak for upgradation of Siddipet Bypass Road from 0 km to 10.2 km in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh.
  • Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation has shortlisted bidders for Dah and Hanu small hydel power project of nine MW each on turnkey basis in Ladakh district of Jammu & Kashmir. The shortlisted bidders include Amedco, Kashmir, Sai Engineers Foundation, Himachal Pradesh, P& R Infra Projects, Chandigarh and EDCI, Delhi.
  • Public Works Department, Maharashtra has awarded contract to Nilesh Infrastructure, Nandurbar, for construction of nursing school building and hostel building in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra.
