During June 2007, a total of 2,444 project-related tenders were floated, with aggregated estimated value of work being Rs.11,780 crore. Out of these, the state government agencies accounted for 1,898 project-related tenders valued at Rs.7,622 crore, whereas Central government agencies listed 509 projectrelated tenders worth Rs.4,073 crore.
Among tenders floated, the most notable was by the Delhi Development Authority. It invited global tenders for construction of various sports infrastructure and refurbishment of existing sports infrastructure for the Commonwealth Games 2010 to be held in Delhi. The estimated project cost of Rs.310 crore, would be spread in four different packages.
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was the sole company to invite proposals through International Competitive Bidding. The bid called for preparation of feasibilitycum- preliminary design for four/six-laning of 13 project stretches belonging to National Highways. The projects are to be executed as BOT (Toll) project, on DBFO pattern, under NHDP-III.
Amongst sectors being evaluated on estimated value of work and number of tenders floated, Roadways topped with 962 project tenders worth Rs.4,525 crore. Community Services, Irrigation and Water Supply followed the list with 336 (Rs.1,527 crore), 252 (Rs.978 crore) and 134 (Rs.888 crore) project-related tenders, respectively.

In the Hotels & Restaurants sector, Government of Andhra Pradesh invited EoI-cum-RFPs for a Budget Hotel to be set up on BOT basis, at Lower Tank Bund in Hyderabad, with an estimated project cost Rs.50 crore. India Exposition Mart Ltd., a premier exhibition complex located at Greater Noida and designed as a global hub for national & international level exhibition and trade events, invited Expression of Interests (EoIs) for a four-star hotel to be set up at Greater Noida.
Maharashtra ranked first among other states, for its estimated value of work amounting to Rs.1,569 crore for 276 project tenders. Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu followed the list with Rs.1,261 crore (231 tenders), Rs.1,161 crore (165 tenders) and Rs.1,029 crore (248 tenders), respectively.
Increased tendering activities during June, helped Uttar Pradesh to be among the top 10 tendering states. In all, 193 tenders worth Rs.492 crore were floated in the state. Among the floated tenders, the most notable one was by state owned New Okhala Industrial Devp. Authority. It invited pre-qualification applications from reputed construction management consultants, for construction of sports infrastructure in Sector-21, Noida, with an estimated cost of Rs.60 crore.
The private sector saw 37 tenders floated in June 2007. They mainly related to the Power, Cement, Hotels and Oil & Gas sectors. Cairn Energy India Pty Ltd., floated five tenders for their ongoing projects.
AES Chhattisgarh Energy Private Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of AES Corporation, USA, invited EoIs from the EPC contractors, to set up a 1200 MW thermal power plant with an integrated captive coal mine, in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.
Bhilai Jaypee Cement Ltd., a subsidiary of Jaypee Group, invited prequalification applications to implement the 2.2 MTPA Bhilai Jaypee cement project, on turnkey basis. The project split into two, is identified as Bhilai Jaypee cement plant at Satna in Madhya Pradesh and Bhilai Jaypee Grinding plant at Bhilai in Chhattisgarh.
Mumbai International Airport Private Ltd., a part of the GVK led consortium, invited global EoIs for passenger terminal buildings, airside works and landside works at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) in Mumbai.
Expression of Interests
In June 2007, 42 Expression of Interests (EoIs) were announced, relating to Tourism & Recreation, Community Services, Power and Airways sectors.

Orissa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd., invited EoIs for developing four/five-star/super luxury hotels, resorts and spas at Shamuka Beach, Puri in Orissa.

Symbiosis Society, Pune invited EoIs to establish a Residential Law College campus on its own property at A-47/48, Sector-62 in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The estimated cost of Phase-I is approximately Rs.50 crore.

Roads & Bridges Dept., of the Government of Sikkim, invited EoIs for construction of airport and operate aircraft/airline services at Pakyong in East Sikkim, on public-private-partnership (PPP) basis.
