Project tenders worth Rs 21,146 Crore

In October 2009, a total of 2,453 project tenders worth Rs 21,146 crore were floated. Out of these, 1,556 tenders worth Rs 8,054 crore were by State Government agencies, 841 tenders worth Rs 12,818 crore were by Central Government agencies and the balance 56 tenders were by Private companies.

Among the tenders floated in October, the most prominent was the one floated by NHAI. The national highway builder, on 31 Oct 2009, invited global RfQs for six-laning of Icchapuram- Srikakulam-Visakhapatnam-Ankapalli-Rajahmundry section from KM 470.000 to KM 901.753 of NH-5 on DBFOT basis under NHDP-V in Andhra Pradesh. The cost of project is estimated at Rs 3,550 crore.
Throughout the month, NHAI was very active and floated around 50 project tenders involving job work worth Rs 9,620 crore. Of the 50 tenders floated by NHAI, 36 were for providing consultancy services for various sections of National Highways planned across the country. On 20 Oct 2009, NHAI floated 19 tenders for preparation of DPRs for rehabilitation and upgradation of various sections of National Highways under NHDP-IVB.

Another notable tender invited during the month was by Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC). On 30 Oct 2009, MPRDC invited global RfQs for development of Rewa-Katni section of NH-7 on BOT basis in Madhya Pradesh. The cost of project is estimated at Rs 888 crore. In all MPRDC invited six project tenders worth Rs 1,829 crore during the month.

With NHAI and a number of State government agencies on the forefront in floating Roadways tenders, the sector topped the sector-wise list with 915 project tenders worth Rs 15,663 crore. Railways, Community Services and Water Supply followed the list with 305 tenders worth Rs 1,366 crore, 250 tenders worth Rs 1,011 crore and 192 tenders worth Rs 663 crore, respectively.
The Thermal Power sector saw 94 project tenders floated during the month of October 2009. The most notable project tender in this sector was by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation (GSECL). On 23 Oct 2009, GSECL invited bids for consultancy services for feasibility study and preparation of DPR for installation of 2x800 MW coal based power plant at Dahej in Gujarat. NTPC, was most active during the month in this sector. In all, NTPC invited 45 project tenders for supply of materials and execution of various works for its ongoing thermal power project across the country. Apart from this, on 27 Oct 2009, NTPC also reinvited bids for the installation of 100 MW wind farm.
On 9 Oct 2009, the Government of Uttar Pradesh invited bids for selection of consultant to prepare comprehensive feasibility project report, bid document and concession agreement for setting up of an international airport at Meerut on DBFOT basis under PPP.

GVK Power (Jegurupadu) Private, a GVK Reddy Group Company, for 1x426 MW single shaft gas based combined cycle power plant on EPC basis at Jegurupadu village, Kadiyam mandalam in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

Housing Infrastructure & Development (HDIL), a Real Estate Development Company, for construction of residential building Majestic Towers at Nahur (W) in Mumbai.

Simhapuri Energy Private, promoted by Hyderabad-based Madhucon Projects, for setting up of 2x150 MW (Phase-II) coal fired thermal power project on EPC basis at Tamminapatnam and Mommidi villages, Chillakur Mandal in Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh.
