SJVN forays into Wind Power

During December 2011, a total of 3,572 tenders worth Rs 28,413 crore were floated. Of the total project tenders invited during the month, 2,683 tenders worth Rs 13,555 crore were by State Government agencies, 845 tenders worth Rs 14,843 crore by the Union Government agencies, and balance 44 tenders were by private companies.

 

Notable tender during the month was issued by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), on 21 December 2011, for EPC contract of a 50 MW capacity wind power project at suitable site at one location in any of the state - Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

 

Another tender during the month was issued by Madhya Pradesh Power Generation Company (MPGENCO) for Shree Singaji Thermal Power Project. The company invited global RfQs for the selection of EPC bidders for installation of 2x660 MW Shree Singaji Thermal Power Project Stage II at village Dongalia in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.

 

Among the sectors, the Roadways sector continued to be at the top with 1,232 tenders worth Rs 15,607 crore. The most important tender in the sector was floated by the NHAI wherein the authority invited global RfQs for the four laning of Amravati-Jalgaon section from Km 166.725 to Km 441.300 of NH-6 on BOT (Toll) basis under NHDP-IV. The cost of the project is estimated at Rs 2,525 crore. In all, NHAI floated 35 project tenders worth Rs 10,302 crore.

 

Some other tenders by NHAI:

 
  • Six laning of Aurangabad-Barwa Adda section of NH-2, NHDP-V (Rs 2,419 crore).
  • Four laning of Jalgaon-Maharashtra/Gujarat Border section of NH-6, NHDP-IV (Rs 1,973 crore).
  • Four laning of NH-72A in Uttarakhand & Uttar Pradesh, NHDP-IV (Rs 1,032 crore).

 

Apart from this, the NHAI has called for consultants for preparation of feasibility-cum-preliminary design report for construction of stand-alone ring road/bypasses for Pune and Nashik city in Maharashtra under NHDP-VII. The Real Estate sector saw 96 project tenders worth Rs 2,821 crore being floated during December 2011. The most prominent tender was floated by the Delhi Development Authority for the construction of 24,660 LIG houses and 4,855 EWS houses by using prefab technology on turnkey basis in Narela & Rohini, Delhi. The cost of the project is estimated at Rs 2,052 crore. Another important tender in the same sector was floated by UP Housing & Development Board for construction of multistoreyed residential finished houses in Himalaya Enclave in Sector-17, Vrindavan Yojna, Lucknow, at an estimated cost of Rs 190 crore.

 

The Irrigation sector saw 356 project tenders worth Rs 1,698 crore being floated during December 2011. The Narmada Valley Development Authority floated tenders for execution of Halon irrigation project complete on turnkey basis in Madhya Pradesh. The cost of the project is estimated at Rs 279 crore. Another tender was floated by the West Bengal Government for construction of Teesta Jaldhaka main canal from Km 0.0 to Km 17.831, including its structures and 12 nos. minors in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. The cost of the project is estimated at Rs 134 crore. Among the states, Orissa accounted for a total of 435 tenders worth Rs 886 crore followed by Maharashtra (383 tenders worth Rs 5,626 crore), Uttar Pradesh (289 tenders worth Rs 1,158 crore), and Chhattisgarh (275 tenders worth Rs 890 crore).

 

Some of the major tenders floated in the private sector:

 
  • Luxor Energy invited bids for complete plant package on EPC basis (BTG & BOP) for 2x660 MW coal based power project in Bijapur district of Karnataka.
  • Cairn Energy India Pty invited global bids for design, fabrication, inspection and testing, painting, packaging, supply and commissioning of gas dehydration system and compressor package for gas lift pressure upgradation project at Ravva offshore block located in East Coast of India.
  • Kaizen Power invited global bids for setting up of 300 MW thermal power project on EPC basis at APSEZ Atchutapuram in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.
  • Adani Enterprises invited bids for selection of logistics services provider for transportation of and delivery of coal by rail-sea-rail route to identified power plants of MAHAGENCO or GSECL.
  • Bajaj Infrastructure Development Company called bids for design, engineering, erection, testing and commissioning of generator transformer and reactor package for 3x660 MW Lalitpur power project in Uttar Pradesh.

 

Some of the major EoIs floated during December 2011:

 
  • North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) for identification of coal block(s), investigation, exploration, planning, development and operation of coal mine and long term supply of coal to the 500 MW coal based thermal power project of NEEPCO at Garo Hills district in Meghalaya.
  • The Department of Science & Technology, Karnataka, for development of Nano Science & Nano Technology Park (Nano Park) on PPP model at New Bangalore International Airport, Bangalore.
  • GSPC LNG for EPC of re-gasification facilities, LNG tanks and its associated facilities in single package for LNG terminal at Mundra in Gujarat on EPC basis.
  • Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra for establishment of new polytechnic under PPP in Maharashtra.
  • The Port Department, Kerala for the development of Alappuzha Inland Marina, passenger terminal and other tourism related facilities at Alappuzha in Kerala.
  • The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority for the development of world-class innovative and unique entertainment and amusement arena at VUDA Park, Visakhapatnam on BOT basis.

  • The Nashik Municipal Corporation has awarded contract to Patel Engineering for a superspecialty hospital project at Deolali Shiwar, Nashik Road in Nashik district of Maharashtra. The tender for this work was invited on 04 August 2011.
  • The Public Works Department (PWD), Madhya Pradesh has awarded contract to Anu Constructions for construction of Tumda-Tajamrod road and Kulashkala- Barbakhedi road in Madhya Pradesh. The tender for this work was invited on 10 August 2011.
  • The PWD, Madhya Pradesh has awarded contract to Aishwarya Infrastructure for the construction of Tikamod- Mangrol road, Kuri-Nayapura-Rujankhedi-Khatyakhedi- Chandagehan-Sansli-Bapcha road in Madhya Pradesh. The tender for this work was invited on 10 August 2011.
  • Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam has awarded contract to M S Patil, Shorapur for upgradation of Malla - Hunasagi Road and Narayanpur - Lingasur Road in Karnataka. The tender for this work was invited on 27 July 2011.
  • The PWD, Madhya Pradesh has awarded contract to Aircon Co. for upgradation of Mohgaon-Devali- Jamaipani-Marram-Dukarjhela Road in Chhindwara district of the state under CRF. The tender for this work was invited on 02 August 2011.
