February 2010 witnessed slight increase in project tendering activities. As compared with January 2010, 78 more tenders were floated in the current month. In all, 2,905 project tenders worth Rs 13,068 crore were floated in the month. Out of this, 2,223 tenders worth Rs 7,707 crore were by State Government agencies, 629 tenders worth Rs 5,290 crore were by Central Government agencies and the balance 53 were by Private Companies.

Among the tenders floated in February, the most notable one was by Uttarakhand State Infrastructure Development Corporation (USIDC), a Government of Uttarakhand Undertaking. On 10 Feb 2010, USIDC invited bids for providing consultancy services for feasibility study and detailed project report (DPR) for monorail facility in Dehra Dun
Another notable project tender of the month was floated by REC Transmission Projects Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rural Electrification Corporation. On 26 Feb 2010, the company invited global RfQs for the selection of transmission service providers for transmission system associated with Krishnapatnam UMPP-Synchronous Interconnection between SR and WR (Part-B) through tariff based competitive bidding process on BOOM basis.
The Roadways topped the sector-wise list with 1,120 project tenders worth Rs 7,353 crore, Community Services, Irrigation and Railways followed the list with 365 tenders worth Rs 1,220 crore, 338 tenders worth Rs 1,097 and 242 tenders worth Rs 875 crore, respectively.

The Shipping Infrastructure sector saw 11 project tenders floated during February 2010. The most notable project tender in this sector was invited by Kolkata Port Trust. On 22 Feb 2010, Trust invited global RfQs for the construction of a riverine multipurpose jetty in the upstream of 3rd oil jetty along with all required backup facilities on DBFOT basis at Haldia Dock Complex in West Bengal. The cost of project is estimated at Rs 269 crore. Another notable tender in the same sector was floated by Kandla Port Trust. On 21 February 2010, it invited bids for setting up of port based multi-product SEZ at Kandla Port in the state of Gujarat.
In the Roadways sector, Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam floated two notable tenders during the month. On 28 February 2010, it invited bids for execution of the following works;

Increased tendering activities within Roadways and Irrigation sectors helped Uttar Pradesh to be first amongst top-ten tendering states. The state saw 481 project tenders worth Rs 623 crore during the month. Karnataka, Maharashtra and Orissa followed the list with 414 tenders worth Rs 661 crore, 399 tenders worth Rs 1,618 crore and 196 tenders worth Rs 757 crore, respectively.
