ABB India has successfully completed a crucial modernisation program for Bharat Petroleum Corporation’s (BPCL) Vadinar-Bina pipeline, upgrading its automation, monitoring, and cyber security systems.
This pipeline, which supplies 7.80 million tonne per annum to BPCL’s Bina refinery, is a key component in India’s energy supply. The project involved an upgrade to the ABB Ability SCADAvantage system, the replacement of 35 remote pigging and sectionalizing valve stations, and the installation of new SCADA servers at Vadinar and Bina. Additionally, the modernisation included enhanced network protection, system hardening, and centralized monitoring, alongside failover capabilities at both locations to ensure resilience.
G Balaji, SVP at ABB India’s Energy Industries division, said, “ABB executed the modernization of the pipeline without any operational disruption, ensuring continuous flow and uninterrupted refinery operations throughout the project. This achievement underscores our commitment to delivering futureready, resilient technology for India’s most critical energy infrastructure.”
