On 8 March 2006, Andhra Pradesh Power
Generation Corporation signed a joint venture agreement with Infrastructure
Leasing & Financial Services to execute two power plants in Andhra Pradesh.
An special purpose vehicle AP Power
Development Co Ltd has been floated to implement the two project:
- One 2,100 MW gas-based combined
cycle power plant between Hyderabad and Karimnagar.
- One 1,600 MW supercritical power
plant at Krishnapatnam in Nellore district.
The development works will be
completed by October 2006 and construction works is expected to commence by July
2007, it is learnt.
Work on Phase I of 1,600 MW
supercritical power plant at Krishnapatnam is scheduled for completion by
November 2006 and work on 2,100 MW gas -based power project (Phase I) is
scheduled for completion by July 2008.
