The Andhra Pradesh government has approved Rs 904 crore in development works for villages in the Capital Region, marking a significant step towards improving civic infrastructure in these areas.
This move comes after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu assured farmers in the region that their concerns about the Capital Region Development Authority's (CRDA) lack of progress on promised infrastructure projects would be addressed. The government has now finalised an action plan to upgrade roads, drainage, drinking water pipelines, and village connectivity in 29 villages across Thullur, Mangalagiri, and Tadepalli mandals. The development works will include restoring damaged roads, improving sanitation networks, and establishing new underground drainage systems.
The major allotments for the development works include Rs 64.4 crore for drinking water schemes, Rs 110.6 crore for sewage treatment plants (STPs), Rs 339 crore for road improvements, and Rs 12.3 crore for street lighting. Villages like Inavolu, Mandadam, and Sakhamuru, which face severe water shortages, will benefit from new drinking water schemes. As work resumes after years of political and administrative delays, villagers are hopeful for better amenities.
