Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission, and Raman Singh, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, have finalised a Rs 25,250 crore outlay for the state for FY14.
The current plan size is 10 percent higher than FY13. In addition, Rs 6,500 crore is likely to flow from the central government to Chhattisgarh through various centrally-sponsored schemes.
The state government has earmarked 50 percent of the total outlay for social services with a provision of Rs 11,559 crore. The amount will be used in education and health, for the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, and for the welfare of other backward sections. As much as 20 per cent of the total amount has been allocated for agriculture and irrigation.
Meanwhile, a provision of Rs 2,089 crore has been made for irrigation. The transport sector was allocated Rs 2,589 crore.
