Avantha Power & Infrastructure's (APIL) subsidiary, Korba West Power Company (KWPCL), has commissioned Unit-I of its 600 MW coal-based power unit, in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.
The total cost of the project is Rs 3,000 crore and it will spread over 487 acre which constitutes government and private land.
The project will be implemented in various phases. The company is establishing another 600 MW power plant in Phase-II of the project, which takes the total capacity of the plant to 1,200 MW.
In August 2013, the company had signed a fuel supply agreement with South Eastern Coal (SECL) for supplying coal to its plant. About 35 per cent of the power will be supplied to the Chhattisgarh government.
