The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) has approved the Cauvery Water Supply Stage-V Project, on 15 December, 2016.
Approval was given to lay the 9.6 km water pipeline from Netkal Balancing Reservoir to Torekadanahalli (T K Halli) reservoir, which will supply 810 million ltr of water per day to the city.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 160.33crore, of which Rs 80 crore will be borne by Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation, 40 crore by the state government, and Rs 40.33 crore by BWSSB.
The pipeline will draw raw water from Netkal Balancing Reservoir to T K Halli, where it will be treated and supplied to the city.
Following the completion of Stage-V, a total of 110 villages, covering an area of 225 sq km will be provided water.
The treatment plants at Tataguni, T K Halli and Harohalli of Cauvery first and second stages will be replaced under the project, as they are around 50 years old.
