The Bihar Cabinet has approved a series of key urban and infrastructure projects aimed at transforming Patna.
On January 13, the Cabinet sanctioned the appointment of a consultancy firm to develop a comprehensive mega plan for Rajbanshi Nagar and Shastri Nagar, with an allocation of Rs 1.59 crore. This plan will focus on both residential and non-residential zones, paving the way for planned growth and better amenities in these areas. In parallel, the Cabinet approved a significant Rs 576 crore for underground electricity cabling in Patna, covering nine of the 13 divisions under the Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (PESU).
An additional Rs 76 crore has been approved for extending this cabling to the remaining divisions. Further, the Cabinet allocated Rs 284 crore for land acquisition for the Patna Ring Road project, aimed at easing traffic congestion. This project, under the Bharatmala programme, will spur development while diverting heavy vehicle traffic from the city. “The development plans will enhance Patna’s infrastructure, ensuring more organized growth and improved urban amenities,” said Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, Additional Chief Secretary.
