In 2025, the Indian construction equipment industry faced a tough year, described by Shalabh Chaturvedi, Managing Director for CASE Construction Equipment in India and SAARC.
Delayed highway projects, state funds being diverted to welfare schemes, and the costly transition to cleaner engine standards led to a broad slowdown. However, CNH Industrial, the parent company of CASE Construction Equipment, sees this as an opportunity to strengthen its position in the world’s most populous market. To prepare for an expected recovery, CASE is expanding its manufacturing footprint, focusing on its Pitampur plant, which produces 9,000 to 10,000 units annually.
The company plans to increase capacity by 20-25 percent in the next 18 months, followed by a new greenfield project. We are considering a new factory in India,” said MD Chaturvedi, noting the plant will focus on agriculture but with strong links to construction. Groundbreaking is expected in 2026, with location discussions underway with state governments. The company has invested over Rs 1,000 crore in India, with a strong network of local suppliers.
