The central government plans to launch a new production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme to support manufacturers of IT hardware and computer servers.
The objective is to renew the focus on semiconductor and electronics manufacturing and raise India’s share in the three trillion dollar global electronics industry.
The ministry of electronics and IT (MeitY) had formerly announced a nearly 10 billion dollar PLI scheme to boost semiconductor and display manufacturing in the country.
The overall aim is to raise domestic electronics production worth USD 300 billion by 2026.
