Construction of the Anandpuri drain in Patna has begun, aiming to address the persistent issue of waterlogging during the monsoon and improve traffic flow.
With an investment of Rs 86 crore, the project will cover a 2.61 km stretch, converting it into a modern, covered drain with a four-lane road. The project is expected to benefit around 1.5 lakh people, particularly in areas like Anandpuri, Shivpuri, Patel Nagar, and parts of Ward 7, 8, 22, and 23. The drainage work will ensure better water management, particularly during rains, by discharging rainwater through the Rajapur Pul drainage pumping station. The current 12-ft.-wide road along the drain is in poor condition, and the project aims to improve it by installing new infrastructure, including street lighting and beautification.
"The mud-clearing work is complete, and the boundary wall construction is underway," said a BUIDCO official. The project is set to be completed by July 2027.
