DP World is among global players that has showed interest in setting up a logistics hub and managing free trade and warehousing zones (FTWZ) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust's special economic zone (SEZ).
The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) will set up a free trade and warehousing zone over 277 ha area in the SEZ. The compnay is likely to invest around Rs 1,000 crore in the facility if it wins the bid.
JNPT is working on three types of sectors for the SEZ. In the first type the priority will be given to domestic players. Some of the companies that have shown interest are -- K Exports, S Internet, D Marine Food and KFI Oilfield.
The second category is free trade and warehousing zones (FTWZ) where large players are interested. The third category will be a big player who can take the entire plot.
JNPT is likely to release tenders soon and will formalise plans in a year's span.
