The Environment Ministry has accorded environment clearance (EC) to Vedanta Group’s subsidiary company, Hindustan Zinc’s (HZL’s) capacity expansion plan in Rajasthan.
The company has proposed to raise the production capacity of lead-zinc to 4.5 million tpa from 3.75 million tpa, and its ore beneficiation to five million tpa from 4.25 million tpa for Sindesar Khurd underground mine in Rajsamand district.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 740 crore.
The total land required for the existing operational facility is 148.84 ha, and the proposed capacity enhancement will be restricted to this area.
