Essar Power (Jharkhand) (EPJL), part
of Essar Power Holdings is setting up the a 1,200 MW (2x600 MW) coal-based power
plant at Chakala in Jharkhand, with an investment of Rs.5,000 crore.
Land for the project has already been
identified and the process of land acquisition is underway. The company is in
the process of completing a detailed project report and financial closure for
the project is expected by March 2008. EPJL has been allotted a coal mine in
Chakala, which has a reserve of over 100 million tonnes
Work on the project is scheduled for
completion within a period of four years.
