On 19 November, 2025, State Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah laid the foundation for the Dibrugarh Town Water Supply Project (Part-2) and a sewage treatment plant (STP), as part of the AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
Funded by UIDF-NHB, these projects aim to tackle water scarcity and sanitation issues in the expanding municipal area of Dibrugarh. The ceremony, held at Dibrugarh University, was attended by several local officials, including MLA Prasanta Phukan and District Commissioner Bikram Kairi. The Minister emphasised the importance of these infrastructure projects, noting their role in improving the quality of life for residents as Dibrugarh is being developed as Assam’s second capital by 2027.
With this initiative, the city’s growth as an administrative and economic hub in upper Assam is set to accelerate, ensuring long-term sustainable development.
