On 19 February 2014, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Power Minister, laid the foundation stone for Phase-I of NTPC's coal-based power plant at Gadarwara, in Narsimhapur district of Madhya Pradesh.
The power plant, estimated to cost Rs 11,640 crore, will be developed by the company in two phases. Phase-I and II of the project will each have a capacity of 800 MW. The company will source coal for this project from the Talaipalli block in Mand-Raigarh coalfields.
Besides, NTPC is planning to set up two more power projects in the state. One of these projects will be set up at Khargone and the other will come up at Barethi.
