Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC), a committee under the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), has granted environment clearance for GAIL’s gas-based power plant, which will come up in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh.
The 380 MW gas-based power plant will entail an investment of Rs 1,209 crore and will come up within GAIL’s existing LPG manufacturing facility-cum-compressor station at Vijaypur.
The company has been waiting to receive the final clearance for the project for the past three years, for which it had already received terms of reference (ToR) in June 2011.
Earlier, the Ministry had given the green nod to the major naval infrastructure project at Karwar, in Karnataka, a radar station at Narcondam in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and many other coastal facilities along both, the eastern and western coasts.
Apart from this, the Ministry has also decided to fast-track border road projects within 100 km of the Line of Actual Control (LaC) along the India-China border.
