Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is likely to appoint consultants
for providing project development advisory services for maintenance and
development of over 35 landed properties of the corporation on a PPP model.
GTDC is likely to invest about Rs 450-500 crore in these development projects
in a phased manner over a period of time.
Further, it plans to build a luxury cruise vessel by investing around Rs 6.5
crore. The vessel to be commissioned by December 2010 is expected to have
facilities such as floating restaurant, floating hall and floating boardroom,
among others.
GTDC land properties are spread over different parts of the state, many being
in prime coastal areas and some in the hinterland which is now being developed
for tourism in a big way. The main idea behind these projects is to generate
additional revenues for the GTDC and to convert the idle assets into revenue
generating assets.
