Gateway Distriparks has launched a new container train service linking five of its Inland Container Depots (ICDs) - Gurugram, Faridabad, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, and Kashipur to Kandla Port. It has now expanded its connectivity to four major Western region ports, including Mundra, Pipavav, and Nhava Sheva.
Announced on 02 December, 2024, this strategic move aims to bolster the company’s logistics capabilities and meet rising market demand. The company plans to operate double-stack container trains to Viramgam, Garhi, and Faridabad. Containers from Ludhiana and Kashipur will also benefit from the double-stack arrangement through its established hub-and-spoke network.
This model optimises efficiency by utilising existing resources without incurring additional capital expenditure or requiring new rakes, as informed by Chairman and Managing Director Prem Kishan Dass Gupta. By leveraging its established infrastructure, the company continues to play a pivotal role in streamlining cargo movement between major industrial hubs and ports.
Gateway Distriparks’ decision aligns with its vision of offering comprehensive logistics solutions, as it currently operates 10 container terminals nationwide, supported by 34 trainsets and over 560 trailers, facilitating end-to-end services for the export-import industry.
