A new Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) has been inaugurated at Jakhapura, Jajpur district, under the Khurda Road division of East Coast Railway (ECoR).
Built at a cost of Rs 36.85 crore, the terminal is designed to handle four lines and is capable of dispatching cement while receiving clinker, slag, and gypsum. It is expected to manage approx. 86 rakes (trains) per month. The terminal is expected to enhance freight handling efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and strengthen the industrial supply chain in the region.
This development will benefit both the local economy and the railways, according to an official statement from the railway division. The new terminal will play a key role in improving the overall logistics infrastructure in Eastern India.
