Gazdhar Bandh, a sixth pumping station under the Brimstowad project has been inaugurated in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on 27 June 2019.
The pumping station will provide relief from waterlogging at Juhu, Vile Parle, Santacruz and parts of Khar and Bandra. The first two pumping stations started at Irla and Haji Ali in the year 2010.
The pumping station was supposed to start before the monsoon of 2017. The work of construction started in 2014-15 but the earlier contractor couldn't complete the project because of technical inefficiency and the civic body was forced to give the project to another contractor.
Finally, the pumping station work has been completed with a cost of Rs 131 crore.
