The long-awaited dream of Rajamahendravaram residents to see the Godavari River free from pollution is steadily becoming a reality.
Construction of the new sewage treatment plant (STP) is progressing rapidly, with officials aiming for completion by March 2026. The plant, located in the Aava area, has reached an advanced stage, with nearly all concrete work finished. Four additional sump structures have also been built, marking significant progress under the Godavari purification initiative. The next phase involves the installation of machinery, which will soon begin.
The STP is designed to treat 50 million litres of sewage daily before it is discharged into the river. Municipal engineers emphasized that the facility's state-of-the-art design includes multiple stages of filtration and chemical treatment. With the project expected to be finished by next year, the initiative promises a healthier and cleaner river ecosystem for Rajamahendravaram's residents.
