The Gujarat Government has given its approval to Nirma's cement plant at
Mahuva in Bhavnagar district.
The plant estimated to have a capacity of 1.5 million tpa is likely to entail
cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
The state government had allotted 4,000 ha which included wasteland and
grazing land in villages such Dudheri, Gajera, Delia and Amlia. However, around
54 ha is likely to be excluded from the plant's total land allotment as
residents of about dozen villages in the region had opposed the cement plant
over the land acquisition issue.
