Hindustan Aeronautics’ (HAL) strategic electronics factory at Kasaragod in Kerala is likely to be inaugurated shortly.
The unit will manufacture advanced avionics for aircraft and helicopters. The Phase I of the factory has been set up at a cost of Rs 66 crore. At present, seven buildings have come up on an area of 4250 sq mtrs. The production of airborne special purpose computers such as mission computer, display processor, radar computers, and open architect mission computers for various fighter aircraft have been taken up at this factory. In the Phase II, the factory will be expanded to undertake the manufacture of avionics for medium multi-role combat aircraft.
