The Department of Industries has sanctioned the investment proposal of ITC Indivision to set up a manufacturing plant of nicotine and nicotine bitartrate dihydrate.
The company is making an investment of Rs 265 crore in the project. It will generate direct employment to around 205 people at Immavu industrial area in Nanjanagud taluk, Mysuru, Karnataka.
It is the first pure nicotine production plant in the entire country. ITC Indivison is a wholly- owned subsidiary of ITC and an SPV for manufacturers of nicotine and its derivatives.
The investment will further boost industrial activities in the Mysuru region. The project proposal was approved through a circular dated 7 November 2020 issued by the Commerce and Industries Department.
