JK Corp, a Singhania group company, has changed
its name to JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd. It has also shifted a part of the old
company's corpus to a new investment company, yet to be named.
JK Lakshmi Cement is also in the midst of a Rs.180 crore capacity expansion programme spread over three years.
JKLC has a cement unit at Sirohi in Rajasthan
with capacity 2.4 million tpa. This would be enhanced to 3 million tpa by
end-2005-06 and to 3.3 million tpa by 2007-08. The Rs.40 crore expansion project
will be financed entirely through internal accruals.
At Sirohi itself, a 36 MW captive power plant is
coming up with an investment of Rs.140 crore. Around 70 per cent of the
project outlay will be financed through internal accruals.
Note: JK Corp formally existed as Straw Products
Ltd. Along with the name change in late 1990s and some group restructuring, two
companies -- JK Papers Ltd and JK Corp -- were created.
