Jai Prakash Power Ventures signed a lease agreement with the Kerala
Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) on 20 April 2010 for
setting up a 240 MW coal based thermal power plant, a 1.5 million tpa cement
grinding unit and a jetty on 164.22 acre at KINFRA’s industrial park at
Kalliasseri and Pappinisseri villages in Kannur district.
The project is expected to entail an outlay of Rs 1,500 crore and to be
commissioned in 44 months from zero date.
The cement plant is expected to support construction activities and the
industrial and real estate sectors. The plant will require about 18 to 20 MW and
the balance is to be made available to the State grid.
