Jharkhand has launched “Vision 2010” –
a comprehensive policy document that aims at providing overall economic growth
to the state.
The document focuses on composite development
of agriculture, infrastructure, land management, forestry and mineral
resources, industry and also the social sector.
In infrastructure, the state plans to
lay emphasis on road development, energy generation and creation of urban
infrastructure.
In the farm sector, the state has
promised to support project likes food storage, agro-marketing, irrigation,
etc. To this effect, the government, on 8 February 2003, formed the Jharkhand
Agriculture Reforms, Research & Development Commission (JARRDC), headed by
agro-scientist Dr M S Swaminathan.
