Monnet Ispat and Energy's 1,005 MW power plant being set up near Angul in
Orissa is on track.
The first 500 MW unit of the proposed project, located at village
Malibrhamani, is likely to begin commercial generation by March 2012 followed by
the second unit in July 2012.
According to sources, land acquisition for the power plant is completed. Site
office is already functional and land levelling and grading work is underway.
The company has completed the formalities for executing construction of power
line, boundary wall and other civil construction activities.
Out of the total 502 acre required for the project, about 471 acre has been
acquired and the rest will be acquired by end-2009. The balance 31 acre forest
land will be utilised for the ash pond and overburden dump.
The company has been allotted Mandakini coal block along with Tata Power and
Jindal Photo.
