The Metro-4 and 4A project connecting Mumbai with Thane and suburbs is progressing, as the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has appointed contractors for depot construction at Mogharpada, Ghodbunder Road.
Apurvakriti Infrastructure has been appointed to lay a ballastless railway track to connect Mulund fire station with the Gaimukh Metro station and Mogharpada depot on Metro-4 route, at a cost of Rs 121 crore.
Of the approved 170 Ha of government land at Mogharpada, around 42.2 Ha will be used for constructing car sheds for the metro lines. In coverage terms, civil work on the 32 km-long Kasarvadavali-Wadala Metro-4 route has progressed to 58 percent, that on the 2.7 km 4A line connecting Kasarvadavali to Gaimukh is 61 percent complete.
The depot will have 64 stabling lines (32 for present, and the rest for future),10 inspection bay lines and workshop lines each, as well as an operational control centre, administrative building, staff quarters, among others.
