The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has granted the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) permission to resume laying the master water pipeline under the Dwarka Expressway.
This decision followed discussions between GMDA CEO PC Meena and the NHAI Chairman. Work on the pipeline was paused two months ago due to damage on a stretch of the Central Peripheral Road (CPR). A ground-penetrating radar survey identified 16 cavities beneath the road where the pipeline had been laid. NHAI has now approved the resumption of work, with the condition that GMDA ensures the safety of the road surface during construction. The pipeline, consisting of two 340-meter segments, will complete the link between the Chandu Budhera water treatment plant and the Sector 72 water boosting station.
GMDA officials stated that once the pipeline is connected, the water supply in Sectors 51 to 80 will improve. PC Meena stated, "The laying of this water pipeline is crucial to complete the pipeline network for the supply of water in sectors along SPR."
