The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), Calcutta Regional Centre and PMI West Bengal Chapter hosted two-day national seminar on project management from 29-30 November 2019 in Kolkata, West Bengal.
The theme of the seminar was ‘Project Management – Concerns, Techniques and Solutions’. The purpose of the seminar was to create awareness about changes taking place in project implementation processes due to the advent of modern technologies which include emerging tools such as Smart Engineering, IoT, AI, etc.
The seminar was attended by industry experts from steel and metal, oil and gas, hydrocarbon, energy and infrastructure sector, engineering consultants, EPC contractors, IT industry, lending agencies and audit and advisory consultants.
The event included panel discussion on various topics such as- recent trends in project management, financing and credit risk issues of a project, project management--expert approach, effective project management, IT, digital technology and AI in project implementation, case studies of some recent projects.
The seminar focused on the vital role project management can play in achieving technological goals for different sectors. Moreover, the event provided an opportunity for project managers, young engineers in project and planning and students from engineering and management institutes to listen to industry experts from manufacturing, engineering, IT industry and academia.
