Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) proposes to enter the commercial power
generation business.
The company plans to invest Rs 5,600 crore in a span of four years to set up
a 1,200 MW coal based power plant in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh. The
project will consist of two units of 600 MW each.
SCCL has already tied-up for the land and water requirements for Phase I. The
power plant is likely to require around five million tpa of e-grade coal, which
will be sourced from SCCL's own mines, at a distance of 12 km from the project
site.
