BGR Energy Systems is mulling to set up a 1,320 MW coal fired power plant in
Bhapur in Nayagarh district of Orissa at an investment of Rs 6,287 crore.
The company is likely to sign the MoU with the Orissa Government for the
project which is likely to be completed in five years from the date of signing
of the MoU.
The state government is likely to assist the project with land, water and all
mandatory clearances. It will also facilitate allotment of captive coal blocks.
The power plant may require 600-800 acre land and seven to eight million tpa
of coal. While the state government is likely to procure 12-14 percent power
from the project, BGR will be free to sell the remaining power within or outside
Orissa.
