Videocon Industries reportedly plans to generate 5,000 MW power through
projects in Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and West Bengal.
The company is setting up a 1,200 MW coal based power plant at
Pipavav in Gujarat. The equipment order has been placed with BHEL and
financial requirement of Rs 6,000 crore has also been tied up with banks.
Construction for the project is likely to begin soon.
The company has also acquired land and tied up for fuel for establishing a
1,200 MW power plant in
Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh.
Besides, it proposes to set up 1,200 MW power plants in Maharashtra and West
Bengal each and has acquired land for the same.
