NTPC is yet to secure land and water clearances for its proposed 4,000-MW
Bargad mega power project in Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh.
The company has already sent a draft MoU of the project to the Uttar Pradesh
Power Corporation but it is yet to get any firm commitment from them. So far, it
has relieved only in-principle commitment for the project from the state
government. The state government has sought 75 per cent power generated from the
plant.
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Government has given them in-principle
commitment of giving the land and water to set up a project in its part of
Bundelkhand. According to sources, the company may set up two projects in
Bundelkhand, one in Uttar Pradesh and the other in Madhya Pradesh. However, it
is still trying to get the Uttar Pradesh Government's commitment on Bargad.
