Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has initiated the second Bisalpur pipeline project to enhance water supply capacity in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
This project aims to ensure a consistent water flow by allowing for routine maintenance and immediate leak repairs without disrupting the supply. The new pipeline will connect the Surajpura filter plant near the Bisalpur Dam to an intermediate pumphouse in Renwal, located around 10 km from PHED’s Balawala storage facility in Sanganer.
Alongside the pipeline, PHED will upgrade the Surajpura filter plant, while the Water Resources Department (WRD) expands the plant's intake capacity from the Bisalpur Dam. Currently, PHED transfers approx. 820 million litres per day (MLD) of water from Bisalpur, with 710 MLD allocated for Jaipur city. Post the Ramjal Setu Link Project (RSLP), WRD plans to increase Jaipur’s share by another 400 MLD. PHED also intends to construct the new pipeline with a future transfer capacity of around 1,500 MLD, aligning with the projected water needs of Jaipur by 2039.
