Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Assam Bioethanol Plant at Numaligarh Refinery (NRL) in Golaghat, Assam, on 14 September, 2025 marking a significant step towards clean energy and reduced dependence on fossil fuels.
The facility, designed to produce bio-ethanol, is expected to benefit farmers, generate employment, and support sustainable growth. Alongside, he laid the foundation stone for a Polypropylene Plant at NRL, which will add substantial value to Assam’s petrochemical sector, boosting industrial output and creating socio-economic opportunities.
PM Modi highlighted that these projects will enhance energy security, accelerate Assam’s industrial and agricultural development, and provide new avenues for the youth. He further announced that Assam has received projects worth nearly Rs 18,000 crore, including connectivity and health initiatives, underscoring the government’s focus on comprehensive regional progress.
