Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several development projects worth Rs 1,500 crore in Odisha.
The PM dedicated Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) Jharsuguda in Balangir to the nation. The MMLP is constructed at a cost of Rs 100 crore. It will facilitate EXIM and domestic cargo, including private freight traffic. Industries such as steel, cement, paper, etc are located near the facility which will benefit from it. The logistics park will make Jharsuguda the prime hub of logistics in the region.
The Balangir-Bichhupali railway line was also inaugurated by the PM. The 15 km new railway line is built at an estimated cost of Rs 115 crore. The new line will reduce travel time from Bhubaneswar and Puri to cities like New Delhi and Mumbai. It will also benefit many MSME and cottage industries in the state and will also provide opportunities for the mining sector.
Apart from this, the PM also dedicated to the nation the new bridge over Nagavali river which was washed away during floods in July 2017 and doubling of railway lines between Barpali-Dungaripali and Balangir-Deogaon.
Moreover, six railway projects were inaugurated. The PM dedicated to the nation electrification of 813 km of Jharsuguda-Vizinagaram and Sambalpur-Angul lines. The project worth Rs 1,085 crore will ensure seamless rail connectivity on the line.
The foundation stone was laid for the permanent building at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sonepur. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 15.81 crore. The building will house modern schooling facilities for the benefit of over 1000 schoolchildren.
In addition, renovation and restoration works at the Nilamadhav and Siddheswar temples in Gandhaharadi (Boudh) were also inaugurated. The PM also inaugurated restoration and renovation work of Ranipur Jharial group of monuments in Balangir and Asurgarh Fort in Kalahandi.
