From 1 July 2007, Petronet LNG will
start supplying 1.5 million tpa of gas to enable Ratnagiri Gas & Power (RGPPL),
previously known as the Dabhol project, operate its two units of 740 MW each.
PLL has committed to supply gas till
September 2009. PLL will receive gas at Dahej at $4.83 per mmbtu and thereafter
PLL will supply it to RGPPL at $5.93 per mmbtu including sales tax, at the
project site. PLL's commitment comes in the wake of GAIL’s assurance that the
Dahej-Uran gas pipeline will be ready for commercial operation by end-June 2007.
RGPPL has indicated that it will be
able to revive its third 740 MW unit during December 2007 and March 2008. PLL
assured to source 0.6 million tpa of gas for the same unit, the price of which
will be determined later.
