Pudumjee Paper Products has received consent from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to establish a specialty paper manufacturing facility in Mahad, with a capacity of 68,000 tpa. The approval is subject to certain conditions and must be executed within a five-year period. The company is currently in talks with overseas machinery suppliers to finalise equipment configurations and develop project specifications.
In a parallel initiative to enhance sustainability, Pudumjee is setting up a 15.4 MW solar power project in Maharashtra. This project is expected to be operational by the middle of the current financial year. Once functional, it will increase the share of green energy in the company’s operations by around 35 percent of its current energy needs, contributing to environmental goals while lowering energy costs.
The company continues to prioritise the production of biodegradable and compostable specialty papers with barrier properties. These are widely used in sustainable packaging solutions for food products, pharmaceuticals, hygiene supplies, hospital needs, and confectionery, reflecting Pudumjee’s commitment to eco-friendly innovation and meeting the growing demand in responsible packaging sectors.
