Rajasthan is accelerating its urban infrastructure development under the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP), with a total investment of Rs 5,500 crore.
Backed by 70 percent funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and 30 percent from the state government, the initiative focuses on improving sewerage, water supply, drainage, and urban beautification across multiple cities. Under RUIDP Phase IV (Tranche-I), projects worth Rs 3,076.63 crore are underway in 14 cities for sewerage and water supply, and in 12 cities for faecal sludge and septage management (FSSM), benefiting around 1.8 million people.
Tranche-II involves Rs 2,450 crore in works across 16 cities, targeting similar infrastructure improvements and beautification efforts, with Rs 1,995 crore in work orders issued and Rs 984 crore spent by September 2025. The initiative is part of the state government's broader urban reform agenda led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, with implementation overseen by the Local Self Government Department under Urban Development and Housing Minister Jhabar Singh Khara.
