The Rajasthan government plans to set up two new
airports in the state and upgrade two existing ones. The two new domestic
airports has been planned in Kota and Kishangarh near Ajmer. The Jaipur and
Udaipur airports are likely to be granted international status in 2006.
The Union government has given its approval for
developing the existing Kishangarh strip into a domestic airport and to
establish another airport in Kota for which state government has already
identified and acquired land.
Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials is
visiting both places for a preliminary inspection of the proposed sites. The
proposed airports is expected to boost the tourism sector in the state.
Union Civil Aviation Minister, Mr. Praful Patel
is expected to visit the lake city of Udaipur to launch the airport expansion
project and in a bid to facilitate and attract more tourists to the state.
