SAIL has signed a deal to take over refractory unit of Burns Standards Company (BSCL).
The refractory unit of BSCL will be transferred to SAIL’s newly formed subsidiary SAIL Refractory Company (SRCL). The merger of BSCL refractory will help SAIL in the long run as its requirement of refractory material is projected to increase significantly with the completion of its ongoing modernisation and expansion plans. SAIL has already initiated process for capital expenditure plans for installation of tunnel kiln, mixing machine at the BSCL's refractory unit. SAIL's plants at Bokaro and Bhilai in Jharkhand and, Rourkela in Orissa were sourcing refractory from the BSCL unit in Salem (Tamil Nadu).
