Sanghi Cements is setting up a 2.65 million tpa cement plant along with a 120 MW coal/lignite based power unit at Lakhpat in Kachchh district of Gujarat. The project is being implemented in two phases.
Phase I will include 2.65 mln tpa cement unit alongwith 60 MW power plant and Phase II includes another 60 MW power plant. In all Rs.450 crore will be invested.
Work on Phase I is underway and machinery erection is likely to commence by February 2008. Delhi based Holtech Ltd is the consultant for the cement plant and the Chennai based Fichtner Consulting Engineers is the consultant for power plant. Phase I is expected to be completed by December 2008.
Speaking to ProjectsToday, company officials informed that the Andhra project is also on track and the required land for the 1.5 million tpa cement plant has recently been acquired in the Guntur district. At present, the company is in the process of finalisation of civil contractor for the project.
