Sasan Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Power, has started commercial operations from Unit-II of the 660 MW Sasan Ultra Mega Power Plant, (UMPP) in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh.
The coal-based ultra mega power plant, having a capacity of 3,960 MW (6 x 660 MW), has been developed at an estimated cost of Rs 20,000 crore.
In December 2013, Unit-II of Sasan UMPP had commenced power generation from its coal-based plant within a month of achieving boiler light up.
The remaining four units of 660 MW capacity are in an advanced stage of construction and will be commissioned over the next few months.
